Used Toyota Corolla in Cameroon: '110', '115', E120… Which Generation to Buy?

The Corolla is still the cheapest dependable car on the market. What the '110' and '115' nicknames mean, real prices from 60 listings and what to check.

The Toyota Corolla is the second most listed car on MotoNaMarket, just behind the RAV4: 60 active listings on 11 October 2026, at a median price of 3,800,000 FCFA. It is the most common way into a dependable car in Cameroon. One quirk: it is one of the few cars listed more in Yaoundé (34 listings) than in Douala (24).

The hard part is making sense of listings titled "Toyota 110", "Toyota 115" or "Corolla 110 long chassis". This guide explains what those numbers mean, what each generation costs on the site and what to check. To see what is available now, browse the Toyota Corollas for sale.

'110', '115', '120': decoding the listings

Toyota identifies each Corolla generation with a code: E110, E120, E140/E150 and so on. Within a generation, each version has its own code depending on the engine. The eighth generation, the E110 family, therefore includes the AE110, AE111, AE114, AE115 and the CE110 diesel: Toyota's official records detail several of them. That is where the "115" in listings comes from: the AE115 is an E110 with a 1.8 engine.

In practice, though, these nicknames are used loosely: we have seen "115" in the titles of cars from different generations. Only the year on the registration document and the chassis number can be trusted — our guide to the chassis number (VIN) explains how to read it.

GenerationYears (African market, approx.)Reputation
E110 ('110', '115')1997–2002Simple and repairable anywhere, but very old
E1202001–2007The most common on MotoNaMarket
E140/E1502007–2013More modern, still affordable
E1702013–2019Rare on the local market
E2102019 onwardsRecent and much more expensive

The E110 was sold in Africa and Europe from late 1997 to 2002, according to the Corolla E110 history.

How much does a used Toyota Corolla cost in Cameroon?

Asking prices on MotoNaMarket's active listings on 11 October 2026:

YearsListingsMedian priceCentral half of the marketMedian mileage
2002–2007 (E120)343,500,000 FCFA2.7 to 4.1 million100,000 km
2008–2013 (E140/E150)194,800,000 FCFA3.8 to 6 million77,500 km

E110s and E210s (three listings each) are too few for an honest median: we publish no figure below six listings. The practical conclusion is clear: for about 1.3 million FCFA more at the median, you move from an E120 to a newer, lower-mileage E140/E150.

The Toyota Corolla price guide breaks the value down by year, and the rating bar on every listing compares its price with comparable Corollas. For your own car, the price estimator gives a defensible range.

Manual, automatic or diesel?

Three quarters of the Corollas for sale are manual (45 of 60). On this budget that is an advantage: a manual gearbox is cheaper to repair and copes better with patchy maintenance. An automatic Corolla is still a good choice in town, as long as the gearbox is checked; our comparison of manual and automatic gearboxes will help you decide.

On a manual, the clutch is the first wear part to check: here are the symptoms to test on the drive. Eight of the 60 listings are diesels: on those engines the injectors decide the bill (see diesel injectors).

What a Corolla costs to run

Much of the Corolla's reputation comes from cheap maintenance: parts everywhere, mechanics who know it by heart. Our guide to oil change and service prices helps you spot an inflated quote, and our article on the total cost of owning a car covers fuel, insurance and resale.

Importing a Corolla: watch the age

Every Corolla has an engine of 2,500 cc or less. Since the 2026 finance law, their excise duty is 0% up to 12 years, 12.5% from over 12 up to 20 years, then 25%. A 2005 E120, 21 years old in 2026, therefore pays the top rate; a 2010 E150 pays 12.5%. On a 3 or 4 million FCFA car these taxes weigh heavily: work them out with the import duty calculator before ordering from abroad, and compare with Corollas already cleared and for sale locally.

Corolla or Yaris?

If your budget is tight and you drive mostly in town, the Yaris (or Vitz) is the natural alternative: smaller, thriftier and often cheaper. Our guide to the used Toyota Yaris and Vitz compares it point by point. For a family or long journeys, the Corolla remains more comfortable and roomier.

Frequently asked questions

What does 'Toyota 110' or '115' mean in a listing?

They are Toyota codes for the eighth-generation Corolla, the E110 family (AE110, AE115…), sold in Africa from late 1997 to 2002. Sellers sometimes use them for other generations: always check the year on the registration document and the chassis number.

How much does a used Toyota Corolla cost in Cameroon?

On MotoNaMarket listings on 11 October 2026, the median asking price was 3.5 million FCFA for a 2002–2007 Corolla and 4.8 million for a 2008–2013 Corolla. Across all generations, the median was 3.8 million.

Should I choose a manual or an automatic Corolla?

On a small budget the manual is the safer choice: it is cheaper to repair and makes up three quarters of the Corollas for sale. The automatic is more pleasant in town, as long as you check the gearbox condition and fluid-change history.

Is it worth importing an old Corolla?

Rarely. Since the 2026 finance law, a Corolla over 12 years old pays 12.5% excise duty, and 25% beyond 20 years. On a 3 or 4 million FCFA car, a Corolla already cleared and for sale in Cameroon often costs about the same without the shipping risk.
