Selling your car in Cameroon

Set the right price first

This decision drives everything else. A car priced too high gets no calls and eventually sells for less than a fair price would have fetched at the start, after weeks lost. Compare with listings of the same model, year and similar mileage, and use the price estimate before you publish.

What makes a listing get calls

Photos taken in daylight, the car clean, from several angles, plus the interior and the odometer. Real mileage. Papers stated clearly — registration in your name, customs documents if the vehicle was imported. And a description that says what has been done recently rather than adjectives. A listing honest about a fault gets fewer calls but far more visits that end in a sale.

Protecting yourself during the sale

Meet the buyer in a public place in daylight, never hand over keys or papers before you have payment, and be wary of any hurried buyer offering more than the asking price. Transfer of ownership follows the rules: check the registration transfer process before concluding.

Frequently asked questions

How much does posting a listing cost?

Nothing. Posting is free. Credits are only for optional visibility extras — bumping the listing, a badge, the header banner.

How long does it take to sell a car?

It depends on the price and the quality of the listing far more than the model. A fairly priced car with real photos and papers in order gets calls within days. An overpriced one can sit online for months.

Should I accept a buyer paying by transfer?

Wait until the funds are actually available in your account before handing over the vehicle. The most common scams rest on a payment proof that is not one.
